      The $25 million Congress appropriated for gun violence research in 2019 was the first funding for gun violence research in decades. It has taken significant and sustained federal investment to reduce the fatality of motor vehicle accidents by 78% from 1968 to 2018. The same level of investment is required to investigate the causes and develop solutions to gun violence in this country.
