NEW TV AD: Everytown Releases TV Ad Opposing Gun Lobby Backed Tom Kim for Colorado State Senate

New Television Ad Part of $1 Million Effort to Protect Colorado’s Gun Sense Majority in the State Senate

DENVER — Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Colorado IEC released a new television ad as part of its $1 million effort to support state Rep. Tom Sullivan’s run for state Senate in District 27. The ad released today will run in the Denver media market on broadcast, cable, satellite, and OTT.

“After his son was murdered in the 2012 mass shooting in Aurora, Tom Sullivan somehow found the strength to rebuild his life around sparing other families from tragedy,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown is incredibly proud to defend the gun sense majority in the Colorado statehouse, especially against candidates like Tom Kim who will put gun lobby profits ahead of public safety.”

Sullivan’s opponent, Tom Kim, received a “perfect score” on a questionnaire distributed by a right-wing gun lobby group which opposes even foundational gun safety measures like background checks on all gun sales. Today’s announcement comes as part of a $2.7 million investment Everytown is making in Colorado ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Yesterday, Everytown released new polling confirming that the vast majority of voters in the state support common-sense gun safety laws, including 92% support for background checks on all gun sales.

AD TRANSCRIPT “HAND-PICKED”

Tom Kim was hand-picked by the gun lobby.

He comes from the gun industry.

He’s backed by extreme gun lobby groups. And if elected, he’ll do their bidding.

He’s promised to end background checks, allow dangerous people to carry guns in public, and do away with safe storage laws.

But Tom Kim’s extremism doesn’t stop there.

He’s against a woman’s right to choose

And he could vote to criminalize abortion in our state — even in cases of rape or incest.

Tom Kim is way too extreme for Colorado.
