2020: This Year in Gun Safety

This year has been unlike anything we have ever experienced as a nation, and it’s clear that the fight to end gun violence is more important than ever before. To celebrate the progress we made in 2020, please watch our new video celebrating all of our accomplishments and the promising future ahead of us.

Here’s a look back at what we accomplished in 2020.

We helped elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the strongest gun safety ticket in U.S. history

Electing Gun Sense Candidates

  • We helped elect nearly 1,300 Gun Sense Candidates across the country.
  • We helped elect the strongest gun safety ticket in U.S. history, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
We helped register more than 100,000 voters.

Showcasing our Grassroots Power

  • Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made more than 3.7 million calls and texts to voters in 2020
  • Our volunteers helped register more than 100,000 voters.
  • We helped defeat bills in 17 states that would have allowed people to carry a hidden, loaded handgun in public without a permit.
Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund provided more than $2.5 million in total grant funding for nearly 60 local groups on the front lines of gun violence

Working with Community Partners

  • Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund provided more than $2.5 million in total grant funding for nearly 60 local groups on the front lines of gun violence.
  • We joined with partners to advocate for police reform and increased accountability. California, Connecticut, Colorado, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Utah and Virginia, among others, passed police reform legislation.
