During the 2025 election cycle, Moms Demand Action and Gun Sense Action Network volunteers were a get-out-the-vote powerhouse. Volunteers in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and across the country turned a national spotlight on an off-year election. And that progress paid off. Thanks to hard-working volunteers and supporters like you, Election Night 2025 was one to remember.
2025 Election Highlights
- Abigail Spanberger made history and was elected to be Virginia’s next Governor, the first woman to hold the position! While our volunteers have been winning elections up and down the ballot for a decade, this victory also marks the first time a volunteer has been elected to a governorship. And along with Governor-elect Spanberger, all 13 Moms Demand Action volunteers running for the Virginia House of Delegates won (flipping four seats in the process). Moms Demand Action volunteers will make up 20 percent of the Democratic Caucus in the House, paving the way for progress on gun safety in the state.
- In New Jersey, Mikie Sherrill was elected as the next governor of the Garden State! With her election, voters in New Jersey sent a clear message: safety, responsibility, and community are winning values.
- Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justices Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty, and David Wecht won their retention elections to serve another 10-year term. Their re-election to the bench is a huge win for our movement, proving that voters are continuing to choose safety, accountability, and a future free from gun violence.
- Over 100 of our volunteers demanded a seat and won! Moms Demand Action volunteers in 23 states were elected to every level of office, and they’re ready to get to work to protect our children, families, and communities.
