Nevada
Since voters in Nevada passed a background checks initiative in 2016, legislators in the state have enacted several significant gun safety laws—strengthening the background checks requirement, adding an Extreme Risk law, and requiring that guns be stored securely to prevent access by children. Indeed, the state added half of its gun law score in recent years.
If Nevada had the gun death rate of our National Leaders—the 10 states with the strongest gun safety laws—we could save 4,531 lives in the next decade.1Everytown Research analysis of CDC WONDER state gun death rates and Everytown Gun Law Rankings 2026. Based on projected gun deaths, 2026–2035.
