Victory for Gun Sense: Nebraska Moms Demand Action, Everytown Applaud Defeat of Dangerous Gun Bills This Session

LINCOLN, Neb. – Volunteers with the Nebraska chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown for Gun Safety, today applaud state legislators for rejecting two gun bills that would have undermined public safety in Nebraska. The close of the legislative session marked the defeat of the following bills:

• LB 68 — a punitive preemption bill that would have stripped cities and towns of the ability to enact or enforce local public safety laws related to guns, and let out-of-state special interest groups sue localities at Nebraska taxpayers’ expense. More information about LB 68 is available here.
• LB 666 — a bill that would have functionally allowed people to carry concealed handguns in public with no background check and no safety training.

This win for public safety comes after volunteers with the Nebraska chapter of Moms Demand Action gathered at the State Capitol for an advocacy day last month. Volunteers spoke to lawmakers directly about their concerns with these bills and urged them to support common-sense gun legislation.
