NEW YORK — Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund (“Everytown for Gun Safety”) today announced that Vice President Kamala Harris will address thousands of survivors, volunteers and student leaders with Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action during the organization’s annual Gun Sense University from August 10-13, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois. A livestream of Vice President Kamala Harris’ address at Gun Sense University on August 11 will be available to the media and the public.

“From breaking the 30-year logjam on federal gun safety legislation to historic executive actions combating gun trafficking and ghost guns, Vice President Kamala Harris has helped lead the strongest gun safety administration in American history,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “We’re thankful for her continued leadership on gun violence prevention and thrilled she’ll join us at this year’s Gun Sense University in Chicago.”

“As we celebrate ten years of live-saving work, we are honored to have our first woman Vice President, Kamala Harris, join us at this year’s Gun Sense University,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “Moms Demand Action volunteers went all in to elect the Biden-Harris Administration and are thrilled to chart the next 10 years of activism with gun sense champions like Vice President Harris by our side.”

Gun Sense University brings together gun violence prevention movement leaders from across the country to share best practices, participate in training sessions about effective organizing and prepare for the crucial work heading into 2024. This year, Moms Demand Action is celebrating its tenth year of activism. Now one of the largest grassroots movements in the country, Moms Demand Action, as part of Everytown for Gun Safety, has more than 10 million supporters and tens of thousands of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers in every state.

The Biden-Harris Administration is the strongest gun safety administration in history, as evidenced by President Biden’s signing of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, confirmation of an ATF director for the first time in seven years, historic executive actions to address gun violence, his long record of taking on the NRA and passing life-saving laws, Vice President Kamala Harris’ years of gun safety advocacy, and the unmatched gun sense cabinet they have built. The Biden-Harris Administration has prioritized gun safety since entering office, from combating deadly, untraceable ghost guns, to the Department of Justice’s development of a strategy on reducing violent crime, to finalization of the stabilizing arm brace rule, to the comprehensive strategy to address gun violence that includes efforts to fight gun trafficking, investments in community violence intervention programs, and more.
