Two Campus Police Officers Shot and Killed at Bridgewater College; Virginia Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action Respond

The Virginia chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety’s grassroots networks, released the following statement in response to reports that two campus police officers were shot and killed at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Virginia on Tuesday. At the time of the shooting, students at the college were ordered to shelter in place. Later that afternoon, a suspect was taken into custody by law enforcement.

“As the community reels from this terrible tragedy, the loved ones of these officers remain in our hearts,” said Megan Westerman, a volunteer with Randolph College Students Demand Action. “Now more than ever, we must ensure the safety of all Virginians, including those who put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.”
