South Carolina Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action Respond to Gun Violence in Rock Hill Which Killed Three Teenagers

The South Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety’s grassroots networks, released the following statement after three teenagers were shot and killed in two separate shootings this weekend in Rock Hill. 

“Our hearts break for these teenagers, their families, and the Rock Hill community,” said Maddie Thompson, a volunteer with South Carolina North Central Students Demand Action. “We’ll honor their lives with action to end gun violence and keep our communities safe, because we shouldn’t have to live like this.”

In an average year, more than 850 people die by guns in South Carolina, giving South Carolina the 11th highest rate of gun deaths in the country.
