Bridget Montgomery Joins Dozens of Moms Demand Action Volunteers Elected to Public Office Since its Founding in 2012

URBANDALE, Iowa— Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and the Iowa chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a part of Everytown, released the following statements applauding Bridget Montgomery for winning her race for Urbandale City Council.

STATEMENT FROM SHANNON WATTS, FOUNDER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“For nearly seven years, Moms Demand Action volunteers across the country have shown they’ll do whatever it takes to keep their communities safe. Now, many volunteers are taking their advocacy to the next level by running for elected office and I know that as lawmakers, they will be the ultimate gun sense champions.”

STATEMENT FROM KAY MARCEL, A VOLUNTEER LEADER WITH THE IOWA CHAPTER OF MOMS DEMAND ACTION FOR GUN SENSE IN AMERICA:

“Bridget will be an invaluable member of the Urbandale City Council. We all want to keep our families safe, and as a long-time Moms Demand Action volunteer leader, Bridget has shown that she’s committed to doing everything she can to keep our families safe.”

Earlier this year, Moms Demand Action volunteer Movita Johnson-Harell, a Philadelphia-based gun violence survivor, was endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, and won a special election for Pennsylvania House of Representatives District 190. Moms Demand Action volunteer Christine McGrath was also endorsed by Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund earlier this year, and she won her race for Verona Town Council in New Jersey

Moms Demand Action volunteers know that gun violence kills 100 Americans every day and wounds hundreds more – and they are running for office to enact change and stand up to the gun lobby’s priorities.
