Gunman Shot and Killed Two Firemen and Critically Shot and Wounded Another While They Responded to  Fire

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety’s grassroots network, issued the following statement following a deadly ambush in Coeur d’Alene. According to reports, two firefighters were shot and killed as they responded to a brush fire. Authorities said the fire appeared to have been set as part of an “ambush.”

“First responders sacrifice their time, and often their lives, for the safety of our communities. It’s incomprehensible that they were ambushed by a gunman seeking to cause chaos and pain and our hearts are shattered for the loved ones of the victims,” said Jacqui Hamilton, a volunteer with the Idaho chapter of Moms Demand Action. “Our hearts are with their families, their entire firehouse, and the community they served. We urge authorities to find answers and bring clarity to the many unanswered questions surrounding this tragic attack.”
