HARTFORD, Conn. —The Connecticut chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety’s grassroots network, issued the following statement today after lawmakers in the Senate passed HB 6667, a gun safety package also known as the “Governor’s Bill.” Last week, the House passed HB667, and the bill will now advance to Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont’s desk.
HB 6667, the “Governor’s Bill,” includes multiple public safety measures including:
“We applaud the legislature’s collaboration and leadership to pass this comprehensive gun safety bill that will protect our communities by holding bad actors in the gun industry accountable, requiring best practices for gun owners, and ensuring guns are not openly carried in our neighborhoods ” said Erin Barthel, a volunteer with the Connecticut chapter of Moms Demand Action. “We look forward to continuing our work with the legislature to pass common-sense gun safety laws that will keep communities across Connecticut safe and standing with Governor Lamont when signing this bill.”
