Everytown-Supported Measure 114, Which Will Require A Permit for All Gun Sales and Prohibit Sales of High Capacity Magazines, Wins in Oregon

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund Spent $200,000 to Support Measure 114

PORTLAND — Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters passed Measure 114. The measure will require a permit for all gun sales and prohibit sales of high capacity magazines in Oregon.

“The people of Oregon have spoken, and their message is clear: They want more common-sense measures to keep guns out of the wrong hands, and they want high-capacity magazines out of the marketplace,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Lawmakers who are still taking their cues from the gun lobby need to listen to the voters and do their part to prevent gun violence.” 

“Our volunteers were very proud to support Measure 114 because we know that strong gun safety laws save lives,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action. “We’ve made incredible gun safety progress in Oregon over the years and are proud to continue building on that work.”

“Measure 114 is a common-sense gun safety measure necessary in the fight against gun violence in Oregon,” said Hilary Uhlig, a volunteer with the Oregon chapter of Moms Demand Action. “Gun safety laws save lives, and we’re grateful that the majority of Oregon voters agree.”

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund spent $200,000 in support of Measure 114 this election cycle. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made over six million voter contacts through phone calls, text messages, door knocks, and more across the country this election cycle to support gun sense candidates up and down the ballot and ballot measures like Measure 114. Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts also attended multiple events in Oregon to support Measure 114 and candidates up and down the ballot.
