Everytown, Moms Demand Action Respond to Trump’s Iowa Victory

1.16.2024

WASHINGTON — After Donald Trump declared victory in the Iowa caucuses, Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action released the following statements:

“Donald Trump may have won the caucus, but his message from a few weeks ago that we have to just ‘get over’ the tragic school shooting in Perry, Iowa is yet another example of his utter indifference to our nation’s gun violence crisis,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Regardless of who wins the Republican nomination, Everytown will do everything in our power to re-elect President Biden and Vice President Harris, who are leading the strongest gun sense administration in American history.”

“Donald Trump’s presidency brought us four deadly years, and his dangerous and misguided approach to gun safety puts us all at risk,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “All of the remaining Republican candidates would be dangerous for our communities — they’ve proven that they’ll prioritize the gun lobby over our families and are completely out of touch – and wrong – when it comes to gun safety. Our grassroots army of volunteers came together to beat Trump in 2020, electing the strongest gun safety administration in history, and we’re more than ready to do it again.”
