Everytown Labs Announces Launch of EveryShot, AI-Powered Tool to Track Gun Violence 

Everytown Labs’ New Program is the First Gun Violence Data Tracker Powered by AI in the U.S.

NEW YORK – Everytown Labs, a project of Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, today announced the launch of its latest product, EveryShot, an AI-powered interactive site that provides details of gun deaths and injuries across the country in near-real time. EveryShot draws from thousands of public news sources, tracking gun violence across 75 variables, including date and location of gunfire, characterization of the type of shooting as well as information on victims and suspects. Utilizing AI, EveryShot synthesizes a large volume of gun violence-related incidents efficiently and presents the data in multiple sortable formats.

“At a moment when federal data on gun violence is limited and likely to shrink further, EveryShot delivers up-to-date and comprehensive data on how and where gun violence is happening, allowing deep, timely insights that can save lives,” said Nick Suplina, senior vice president for law and policy at Everytown for Gun Safety. “Despite gun violence being the leading cause of death for children and teens in America, official data lags two years – a glaring delay that we cannot afford. It’s up to us – through innovation and determination – to fill in the gaps.”

EveryShot comes as data collection and research on gun violence prevention is at risk from the federal government. Access to gun violence data is already severely delayed, with the most recent federal data dating back to 2023, which presents great difficulties in fully understanding the scope of this crisis and how it is evolving. 

Every day, critical federal information and data vital to preventing and addressing gun violence are disappearing from public access. Just last week, the Department of Health & Human Services removed a webpage from the Office of the Surgeon General that included an advisory on gun violence as a public health crisis.

The release of EveryShot comes on the heels of Everytown Labs’ launch last month. Then, Everytown Labs announced AskEverytown, a first-of-its-kind AI chatbot that provides in-depth, accessible expertise on gun violence statistics, laws, and insights. Every answer from AskEverytown is powered by a knowledge base of gun violence data, gun violence prevention policies, peer-reviewed research, investigations of the firearm industry, and more.
