Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund Endorses Former Moms Demand Action Volunteer Dr. Annie Andrews for U.S. Senate in South Carolina

8.6.2026

NEW YORK — Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund announced its endorsement of Dr. Annie Andrews, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in South Carolina. Andrews is a former volunteer with the South Carolina chapter of Moms Demand Action, which she joined in 2018. She later participated in Demand a Seat, Everytown’s program for volunteers and gun violence survivors running for office.

“As both a pediatrician and a Moms Demand Action volunteer, Annie Andrews has spent years fighting to keep South Carolina’s families safe from gun violence,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “Everytown is proud to endorse Annie, and we will work tirelessly to give South Carolina families a senator who treats gun violence like the emergency it is.”

“Annie Andrews is exactly the kind of leader our Demand a Seat program was built to support, a volunteer who went from demanding action to running for office herself,” said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. “She organized alongside South Carolina volunteers for years before she ever put her name on a ballot, and those same volunteers will be with her every step of the way this fall.”

In 2021, Everytown Victory Fund launched the Demand a Seat educational program to train grassroots volunteers and gun violence survivors to take the next step in their advocacy by running for office and working on campaigns. Since then, the program has trained more than 1,700 volunteers across 47 states and Washington, D.C. More than 600 former volunteers from 44 states have run and won since the program launched, and 15 states now have five or more former volunteers serving in the legislature. In the 2026 primaries, 88% of Moms Demand Action volunteers have won their races.
