Everytown For Gun Safety Action Fund Applauds Lucy McBath for Advancing to Democratic Primary Runoff

5.23.2018

NEW YORK – Today, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund applauded gun violence prevention advocate Lucy McBath, who advanced to the Democratic runoff primary election on July 24 for Congress in Georgia’s sixth congressional district. Everytown earlier endorsed McBath and launched digital, mail and television advertising in support of her campaign.

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund spent $275,000 on digital and mail advertisements aimed at Democratic primary voters across the sixth congressional district to support McBath, and spent $555,000 on television advertising.

McBath’s son, Jordan Davis, was shot and killed at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 23, 2012, by a man who objected to the music playing in his car. After her son was killed, McBath left her 30-year career with Delta Airlines and dedicated herself to gun violence prevention, becoming a national leader in the fight for gun safety.

STATEMENT FROM JOHN FEINBLATT, PRESIDENT OF EVERYTOWN FOR GUN SAFETY:

“Lucy McBath is the leader Georgia needs–a proven leader who will never stop fighting to enact strong gun laws and keep her community safe. Lucy has Everytown’s full support heading into the runoff election.”
