Everytown, Florida Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action Respond to Shooting in Royal Palm Beach Publix

6.11.2021

The Florida chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement on a shooting in a Publix in Royal Palm Beach in which two people were shot and killed, including a child. The shooter was also found dead.

“Our hearts are with the victims of this terrible shooting and their families,” said Wynna Dunmyer, volunteer with the Florida chapter of Moms Demand Action. “Floridians shouldn’t have to go through life fearing gun violence wherever we go – whether it’s a supermarket, a nightclub, walking down the street, or anywhere else. We need more than thoughts and prayers – we need action.”

The shooting comes just days before the five year mark of the shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida where 49 people were shot and killed and less than two weeks after three people were shot and killed and at least 20 people were injured at a banquet hall in South Florida.
