Connecticut Moms Demand Action Respond to Shots Fired During Little League Game in Bridgeport

The Connecticut chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety, released the following statement after gunshots were reportedly fired during a Little League game in Bridgeport on Saturday. Details are still developing. 

“Kids should be running toward balls, not from bullets,” said Laura Kabel, a volunteer with the Connecticut chapter of Moms Demand Action. “This shooting is a reminder of just how urgent the need for action on gun violence is. Our community needs immediate action from our lawmakers and leaders. We can’t keep living in a world where it’s not safe for children to play baseball.”

Following the shooting, Moms Demand Action volunteers joined Governor Ned Lamont, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim, and community partners including Project Longevity, Sisters at the Shore, East End NRZ Pop Up Market & Cafe, YANA, Left Hearts, and Street Safe Bridgeport to call for action to end gun violence in Connecticut.
