How to Support Those Impacted by the Shooting at Annunciation Catholic School

On August 27, 20 people were shot, including two children who were killed, at the Annunciation Catholic School in South Minneapolis.

This isn’t normal, and it’s not inevitable. It’s a choice our lawmakers make every single day when they prioritize the gun lobby’s agenda over our lives. All signs point to this tragedy being perpetrated by an assault weapon, which begs a question: How many more Americans must die before lawmakers ban these weapons of war?

Join us in taking action to support those impacted by this tragedy and to help bring an end to this crisis:

Honor the victims of the Annunciation Catholic School shooting by reading their stories. Give the shooter #NoNotoriety:

  • Fletcher Merkel was a student at the school who loved to fish, play sports, and cook with his family. His father mourns that he will “never be allowed to hold him, talk to him, play with him, and watch him grow into the wonderful young man he was on the path to becoming.” Fletcher was only 8 years old.
  • Ten-year-old Harper Moyski was an Annunciation student and beloved big sister who was bright and joyful. In a statement, her family said, “it is important that her memory fuels action. No family should ever have to endure this kind of pain. We urge our leaders and communities to take meaningful steps to address gun violence.”
