On July 30, 2018, Dr. Shwetak Patel, professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Washington, tested the files previously made available by Defense Distributed to make a downloadable gun. He confirmed all fifteen files were functional and printed all firearm parts using a 3-D printer. Videos online show that these 3D-printed guns do successfully fire.
